And another blog about sleep. Or lack there of as the case seems to be!
Seeing as we have a live in (though invalid) babysitter at the moment the Don and I headed out to the Big Smoke for a night out with The Girls plus husbands. After a wonderful evening filled with good food, great wine and hilarious hilarious chat we arrived home after midnight to a house blazing with light, the TV blaring and Toots sing songing loudly, "Hello mummy! Hello mummy!" on hearing the front door open, followed shortly by Tiger's squeals of delight. Not a good sign.
And bloomin typical. The one night in a long time that we go out, Toots wakes up. More annoyingly, I was feeling pretty smug as this was the same night that she practically passed out from exhaustion at 6.30pm.
Anyway, by the time we got upstairs the poor crippled man was struggling to stand while the two wee devils were racing around having the time of their lives. As kids do with parents, they went straight back to bed without a fuss, but an hour later as we finally trudged up the stairs for the last time (after sorting and putting out the recycling, cleaning up the kitchen, and bringing in the washing from the tumble dryer - is there ever enough time in the day??) a wee glance in showed them both still awake, grinning up at us mischievously with bright sparkling eyes. Which weren't quite so appealing at 6.15am this morning. It was, however, quite nice to hear that five out of the eight children whose parents made up our dinner party were all awake at some point between the hours of 11pm and 1am. And all still up by 7.
So two rules for the future: no alcohol; no being out after 10pm. Oh, and maybe a third one: no being smug.
