Fields of Gold

I was wandering round our garden the other day, pretty much saying goodbye to all the plants and flowers that would shortly be torn out (we haven't managed to keep the garden in the same condition as the previous 50+ retired owner, so as all people with children and/or time contraints will appreciate, we're pulling out the glorious and colourful flower beds and rockery and instead throwing down boring, but infinitely more useful and easy to manage, turf) when I came across these four ears of corn.  Though I'm sure they weren't part of Mrs McLaughlin's original garden design, I quite liked them sitting in amongst our jungle, and was looking forward to seeing them reach their golden glory come Autumn.

Ach well.
