That Was The Week That Was

In case you hadn't worked it out, this week's been a looong week.  And it's nothing to do with having visitors.

Tiger started running a fever a week past Friday, and although it was going up and down, by Tuesday she still hadn't eaten, wasn't sleeping well, looked awful, and was still feverish and lethargic.  On Sunday Toots also started feeling unwell, and after being sent home from school on Tuesday (we kept her off Monday and all went out to enjoy some pancakes for breakfast which perked the girls up no end) they both visited the doctor. Adenovirus apparently is what they had, and Pharyngoconjuntival fever is how it presented, which isn't curable with antibiotics, has a 5-9 day incubation period, and can be passed on through close contact i.e. coughing and sneezing on someone or then touching them.

By Wednesday Toots was back annoying her siblings, and since she didn't have a fever she was well enough to go back to school on Thursday, but those were five looong days with grumpy children.  I'm not cut out to have all my kids at home all day every day!  It also meant three days where AunTia and TioFredow couldn't actually do very much, because although we all fitted in the car (just - I think AunTia was resting on one buttock when squeezed in the back row between Lightning and Tiger's car seats) it's not very practical to drag two ill children and three under two around the Petroleum Museum, or to the swimming pool, or through Kohl's. Saying that, AunTia and I did manage to do a bit of shopping, Starbucks drinking, nattering and pedicuring while kind TioFredow did some toddler-sitting.

But now the third aunt to visit in three months has departed and is off to Darkest Peru via a few days road-tripping to Dallas, which is perfect timing for the virus to hit Small Fry.  Well, what can you do... if you only see your cousins once a year and they want to get up close and personal with you...  ...?!
