First Of The Year

And another school year is upon us.

Toots is going starting Year 4, Tiger is moving up the stairs in to Year 3, and Lightning is starting Year 1 and 'actual school'.  Although for him it's not really any different from last year because it was last year that he moved from his nursery school in to the same school as the girls (albeit still in to a pre-school class).  This year the only difference is that he has to line up outside at the start of the day and get picked up from the same line, rather than be walked in to and out of his classroom.  Yey to school drop offs in my jammies again!

In eight weeks time I'll be posting the same pictures all over again, except this time the kids will no doubt be wearing jumpers and jackets, probably tights and hats, and there'll definitely be no sand,

We've only six weeks of school here, but it feels really nice and easy to be sending them back to somewhere they know and enjoy, where nothing is new or has be thought too much about.  That certainly makes my next six weeks, which will be full of thinking and planning and packing, a whole lot easier.

I've already told the teachers we'll be doing their daily reading requirements but I am not doing any Home Learning projects when they start - extra homework on the weekends I do not have the mental capacity to police - and CCAs (co-curricular activities) we'll also be giving a miss.  Except swim team which Tiger is also old enough to try out for this year.  That's certainly worth continuing, even if only for a few weeks!!  Lets get as much outdoor water-time in as we can ;)
