Time After Time

THREE times it looks like Amazon attempted to deliver this parcel (the three yellow stickers which show the three different drivers / routes that had possession of it) before it finally made it to our doorstep at around 7pm this evening.  Which ties in with the number of "Sorry, there's been a delay..." messages we got from Amazon.  Which is all fair and well - I get our house can be hard to actually locate - but why can't delivery drivers just call?  Like this final one did, and the last Amazon driver did, albeit at 10pm on a Sunday night trying to get rid of his "final flamin' parcel" (his words).  The whole reason I ordered this particular thing was because it was Next Day Delivery through Prime and I actually needed it yesterday morning.  Should just have popped down to Homebase on Monday to buy it in person, was just feeling lazy.

Anyway, turns out that delivery was about as successful as our attempts at finding Lightning's antibiotic.

After calling a pharmacist friend last night after the Don's lack of success at the actual pharmacies, who then spoke to two other colleagues including one from our local pharmacy here, we called the hospital back for a new prescription because all four community pharmacists we'd talked to explained the pills prescribed would either need to be a special order and would take anywhere from 24-36 hours to be delivered (which kinda defeats the purpose I feel of an emergency dash to A&E to get help) or could be a prescribing error.  We were finally told by the prescribing doctor at A&E that the pharmacy in the hospital could prescribe what we'd need because it was a common prescription, so long as we drove back in to Sick Kids first thing this morning to pick it up.

Turns out they couldn't and it clearly isn't, and at 8:30am we got a call saying they didn't have it and would let us know when they had what we needed.  Finally at 2pm we headed through to Aberdeen, and turns out it must have been a prescribing error, because the pill mg amount had been changed to what the pharmacists last night had said was the more common dose, which means we probably could have picked it up last night after all!

Anyway, after all that we're figuring Lightning is fine (albeit still tree-trunk like) and the cellulitis is not getting any worse.  And from the reams of experience we now have, we know the swelling might take a while to go down but so long as it's not getting redder and larger we're on the right path.  So it's back to school for the boy tomorrow, though perhaps I'll encourage him to stay away from the football field...
