Black And White

First Grade classes presented their Penguin Program today in school.  Or "ping-win" I should perhaps say as that's how they all seem to say/sing it.  Is that a US/Southern/Texan/Midland thing?

Anyway, here's a couple of the highlights from their 30 minute presentation:

Q. What does a penguin order for lunch?

I don't know, Tessa, what does a penguin order for lunch?

A. An iceburger!

"Now that you know about a penguin's lifestyle, we'd like to introduce you to the 17 living varieties of penguins found in the world."

Adelie penguin, African penguin, Chinstrap penguin, Emperor Penguin, 

Erect-crested penguin, Fiordland penguin, Galapigos penguin, Gentoo penguin

Humboldt penguin, King penguin, Little Blue or Fairy too.

Macaroni penguin, Magellanic penguin, Rockhopper penguin, Royal penguin.

Snares penguin, Yellow-eyed penguin, Se-ven-teen, penguins in all.

 These are all the penguins, that God has created, waddle waddle waddle, slip slip slide.

African Penguins

1. Some penguins have pink around their eyes, and they are called African penguins.

2. Some places in the world you can play with African penguins.

3. Right now there are not much [sic] African penguins left.

4. There are 26,000 pairs left of African penguins.

5. Some African penguins share their beach with other people.

6. African penguins are white and black.  It's beak is black and they have a white tummy and a black chest band on their tummy.
