Except the passports don't, as yet, contain that shiny new US visa we require.
You see, you're supposed to take passport photos with you less than 6 months old, which you think we'd know having been through this process before, and having read all the required documentation before travelling*. Anyway, as such it wasn't a problem for the Don and I who could get photos taken then and there in the Embassy, but not so good for the girls who were back in Southwalk helping AuntyTwo make quiche. Or make a mess, as the case may be: two changes of t-shirt and one of trousers for Tiger during that quiche making disaster (and from eating a donut for breakfast).
But we carried on with the interview process, were accepted for a new visa, and were allowed to keep our passports with the assumption that we'd hand them all back in to the Embassy, along with the girls' photos, when we returned from Germany. Perfect, really. Only problem now is getting them back in the four days between returning from Germany and the Don flying home... but if he has to delay his flight by a few days then, well, we're all the richer for his company.

* We had already uploaded photos, which were accepted, when we made the application, so why they need another hard copy when they already have one in their system, I don't know...
