She Took Him To The Lake...

...and he was miserable.

The whines of "It's brooooooown!!!!!" and "It's tooo coooooooooooold!!!!!" pretty much summed up Joey every time he was near water last week.  Apparently nineteen months in the Arabian Gulf has spoiled our water-baby: he barely got his feet wet in the lake, was only content to paddle in the waterfalls, and that only after a lot of complaining, and wouldn't even get in the swimming pool today in Midland.

Apart from that, our five days in Oklahoma last week with Marifiki were wonderful, and were spent pretty much doing exactly what we did last time we were there: on the lake, at the Chickasaw Cultural Centre, and at the animal park.  We didn't get back to Turner Falls because of a new rule that all kids under 12 have wear a life-jacket (and what little-fish aged 5, 7 or 8 wants to do that?!) so we hit Little Niagra instead, where the water was just as cold, but just as much fun

Except, of course, for It's-too-cold-Joe.

Anyway, photos are pretty much the same as all the ones you can link to from two years ago, just with kids a couple of years older, and of course with the handsome Don:

Who's glad to be at the lake?

A bit more water in the lake this year meant we
could actually use the boat dock right below the house.

Thumbs up for the speedboat!

This means "Go Faster!"

And then the inner ring lost so much air it popped out,
and that was the end of that.

Always the first one in

Lightning followed....

...as did the Don.

The water was freezing, and though Toots got wet she was not willing to jump in like the other crazies, while I sat on the side and took pictures. I mean someone had to!?

Still jumping...

This time around Grandpa Grem did introduce our kids to the joy of fishing, which fascinated Lightning (how he loves to touch the things he's learning about) as much as it repulsed Toots ("I have to touch the fish I catch?!" - one of Grandpa's rules apparently).

A catfish!

All-in-all it was another wonderful week at the lake!
