So my new year started at about 5:30am, when three little boys and one little girl thought it was morning and switched their light on and made so much noise gathering their dressing gowns and slippers in preparation for heading up to the family room that they woke me up. Despite the fact that I had only been sleeping in said family room for the last three hours... So needless to say they were quite harshly told it was not morning yet, not the start of the new year, and most definitely not the start of the next decade, so they should all go back to sleep. Ah the joys of squeezing 13 people into a Portsoy-converted mill for 6!
Two and a half short hours later they were at it again, but as 8am was the time they had previously been told there were allowed to emerge (despite the fact the rest of the house was still dark and sleeping - but we didn't know that at 10pm when they went to bed!), I merely curled back into my sleeping bag and tried to ignore them.
By 11am, after a hearty breakfast of pancakes and bacon, scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, porridge, cereal, tea and coffee, we were all ready to hit that gorgeous beach at Sandend for a loony dook...

| Not sure it was worth the effort getting these kids into, and then out of, their wetsuits for the few seconds they went knee deep in the water! |

Fantastic first day of the new year with an excellent bunch of people.
