I love that, even after living in the north east for the best part of 20+ years (or 40+ years in the Don's case!), we are still finding new treasures, and Hackley Bay is most definitely one of them.
Sheltered on three sides by high cliffs and backed by sand dunes, this hidden gem of a beach is at the heart of the Forvie National Nature Reserve and only accessible by a 40 minute walk from either Newburgh or Collieston. But it's well worth the walk...

What a cracking day it was, made even better by the lack of wind and probably the calmest I have ever seen the North Sea. We'll definitely be back (tomorrow if the kids had their way)!
