Sadly we were a planned family down thanks to this wonderful pandemic, but the remaining six adults and six children still managed to, eventually, cook the Christmas turkey despite no one claiming actual responsibility (or bring a meat thermometer).
Anyway, Ballater was the hostel of choice this year (since the great Jessie Mac's was no longer open), and though all we really did was eat, sleep, play with babies and toddlers, and watch whatever we could find on Freeview, we did also manage to get out on walks -though never further than 2 miles from our start point.
First up was the mighty Craig Coillich Hill, the official running route of the Ballater Highland Games:

Next up was a wee wander around the golf course and back along the River Dee...

I'm not sure from these pictures you could tell we also had an actual white Christmas!
