He was hilarious though didn't crack a smile once I don't think. I found him a total old-school adventure story-telling hero and an absolute joy to listen to. I think he maybe only got half way through his life story in the evening - which is more than most folks would live in three life times - but it so totally reminded me of the way papa used to tell stories of his childhood, or how Roald Dahl writes his books (I'm really enjoying reading Danny the Champion of the World with Joey at the moment!). It is a definite lost art.
