Never Swim Alone

Last day of the school holidays today, and what better way to end the time off than taking part in our annual swim Club Champs and presentation evening*!!  (And I say that with only a little bit of sarcasm because really, everyone is knackered after Christmas and New Year and just wants to get their kids in to bed and back to school and doesn't want to spend the day in a hot and humid pool, filled with shrieking kids, and then spend another hour sitting and listening to prizes being awarded. Though we should be grateful we even can do it all live and without masks!).

Anyway, Lightning did alright for himself again... though this is his last year of medals as they are not handed out to 12s and over (because you know, winning is enough of a prize).

I did alright for myself too, winning a box of teabags and a pack of Cadbury's Fingers along with the Outstanding Contribution Award Shield, so you know, well done me.

Before that, I had spent the day standing poolside wondering when on earth Crocs - Crocs AND socks! - became fashionable again?!?

These are three girls, all Toots's age, who all make sure they are always wearing the 'right' thing, who are choosing to walk around in cream coloured Crocs with white socks. I mean... what?!?!?!?  And it's not just because they are poolside (where they would usually wear the most up to date expensive trainers).  Mind... blown...

* Actually, we should be grateful we even had a presentation evening as last year it was still virtual. Turns out I never even blogged it, DESPITE the fact that we had two prize winners in our midst - Toots won the Claydactic Trophy for Sportsmanship, and Lightning won the overall Age Group Shield for 10 year old boys, and (maybe?) the 10-year old boys cup for Fly (can't really remember that one, but we definitely had three trophies sitting in our house for the last year!).
