The Northern Lights

After forty+ years of living in the north east of Scotland, the Don finally saw his first northern lights. So of course we woke the boys up to make sure they didn't have to wait forty too!

What a stunning display, even if it was actually best viewed through the camera lens.

When I was a lad, a tiny wee lad
My mither said tae me
Come see the Northern Lights my child
They're bright as they can be
She called them the heavenly dancers
Merry dancers in the sky
I'll never forget, that wonderful sight
They made the heavens bright

The northern lights of old Aberdeen
Mean home sweet home to me
The northern lights of Aberdeen
Are what I long tae see
I've been a wandered all o my life
And many a sight I've seen
God speed the day when I'm on my way
To my home in Aberdeen

I've wander in mony far-aff lands
And traivelled mony a mile
I've missed the folk I've cherished most
The joy o a friendly smile
It warms up the hairt of a wand'rer
The clasp of a welcomin hand
Tae greet me when, I return
Hame tae my native land

The northern lights of old Aberdeen
Mean home sweet home to me
The northern lights of Aberdeen
Are what I long tae see
I've been a wandered all o my life
And many a sight I've seen
God speed the day when I'm on my way
To my home in Aberdeen
