Running first this year and as a Year 8 equivalent it was 1600m for Joe.
Followed by a 100m swim an hour later - nae bother.
Overall his points placed him second behind his fellow triathlon nemesis IRC team-mate and chum Fast Eddie, but he was happy overall. It's all just a good laugh and excuse to get another day off school, right?! He didn't get over 2,000 points so doesn't automatically qualify for the finals in Bath in March, but chances are he will get in once all the places are allocated.
As the event is run by the Scottish Saltires Modern Pentathlon Club based here at ASV, the kids also had the opportunity to take part in a lazer-run event for funzies in the afternoon. For Joey this means 5 targets and a 300m run x 3. He absolutely blized the second and third lazer shoot, but was sadly pipped to the post in the final run, again, by Fast Eddie.
It might be different type of guns/rifles that they are using at Cadets, but the target practice is clearly paying off!
