Come Back To What You Know

This weekend we went a searching...

On Saturday we found a restaurant that sold pancakes (24/7 - who needs pancakes 24/7?!) and although both girls managed to eat their entire meal, probably for the first time since coming here, the pancakes weren't anything to write home about and certainly not as good as mamma's!

And today we attended a Scottish and Irish Faire organised by the Celtic Heritage Society of the Permian Basin.
When we arrived we asked if we could get in for free since we came from Scotland.  The swift response was: "Well ahm helf Scattish and helf Irish so mebe we all culd get in for free ha ha!".  Ha ha.  But actually...

Anyway, we walked in, and would pretty much have walked out again had we not just paid $20.  We missed the piping, the Celtic breed dog show, the genealogy workshop, the workshop on Gaelic language, most of the music, and even the ceilidh on Saturday night.  But there's always next year right...?  We did get to see all the stalls selling Scottish and Irish tat 'Made in the USA with pride', and also spoke to a guy from Clan Morrison who worked out he was 3.1% Scottish.  And Toots got her face-painted and both girls were given Scottish flags and pin badges, so they were happy!
