Married In London

It's probably no surprise that a hotel room sprinkler system going off, shooting out a water/charcoal combination over everything (to dampen the flames, should there be flames) for at least 15 solid minutes, is not an addition that a bride wants on her wedding day, particularly not in the room she is in getting ready for her wedding.  I can tell you from first hand experience that black water covering and soaking and filling up everything - from wedding dress, veil, bridesmaid and flower girls dresses, to hair, make-up and photography equipment, to overnight, honeymoon, hand bags and make-up bags, to shocked bride, bridesmaid, flower girls, photographer and me, to shoes and gifts and thank-yous and origami bouquets - just leaves you in the corridor crying in shock, then frantically running in and out, in and out, in and out grabbing at everything that you possible can while the heavens are coming down on top of you, then trying to calm down two sodden girls who have just seen all their grown auntie's cry.  It took at least two hours to sort through the ruins that were now wrecking the corridor carpet, while hotel staff absolutely gutted the hotel room, and plied the mourners with tea and dressing gowns.

What was a surprise, was that only four hours later, the bride, her bridesmaids and flower girls, showed up at church looking stunning, without a stain on their clothes, hair out of place, or smudged bit of make-up.  Had the bride-half of the wedding party not still been slightly crazy-eyed and clearly still operating on a lot of adrenaline, I think no one would have been any the wiser.

Absolutely amazing, and a gorgeous bride, husband at her side and a Thames boat ride made a fantastic day.

Sadly my camera didn't survive the experience so photos from here on in will be somewhat limited...
