Today was the first Saturdays of the year to dawn absolutely bright and glorious and with the potential to only get better - as opposed to the norm which is having a clear and sunny week but heavy clouds and pouring rain by Saturday.
Perfectly timed weather really as the Don and girls were heading to Bennachie for a 6km (3.7 mile) route round the forestry tracks. During the cycle which was run by the Ranger Service they also learned more about Bennachie's cultural and natural history and stopped off twice for some pond dipping. Good practice for the coming summer and the burn that lies across the field from our house me thinks.
Meanwhile back at the croft Oma, the boys and I filled eight or nine bags, tubs and bins with the metre of leaves [read: mulch] that had collected behind our front wall. Underneath we discovered some promised-to-be-beautiful (by neighbours down the road who knew the guy that lived in this house for eighty years and kept the garden stunningly full of plants, trees, flowers and vegetables, and who happened to be passing to catch the bus but instead stopped to chat and ended up missing it) plants starting to grow.
No photos though - too busy working hard!
