Dam That River

It was a local holiday Monday today and pre-covid we'd planned on spending this long weekend camping and kayaking over at Loch Morlich near Aviemore.  Which in this weather would have been wonderful! Instead we spent most of the whole warm weekend outside in our garden; gardening, trampolining, eating, spending time with family and friends, all at a socially safe 2m (well, the adults at least - can't admit the kids did!).  It. was. wonderful.  And if Scotland could guarantee summers like this we'd be a much less dour nation!

Since the Don was working today and it was still warm and sunny, the kids and I decided to prolong our holiday and explored a bit more of the local area, discovering some cool new trails around Keith Hall Estate and up in to Keithall village while at it.  None of the trails or hills were really suitable for my town bike, but you know, whatever...

For lunch we popped over to the Strath Burn for a picnic and bit of dam building.  By then I was actually a bit over the kids being in the direct sun, but as is classic Scotland, sitting in the shade was a touch cold.  I hate that about summers here - bring back the still, warm air of the weekend!
