A Plan Too Far

And then this happened:

Well, not quite. First came the Whatapp message on Thursday night that simply said he would no longer be doing the 10k Balmoral Run or the Half Marathon Run Garioch. Which led to a phone call at the side of the 7-a-side pitch to establish what was actually wrong - a pulled or ruptured tendon - and that he was all right, which then led to working out how exactly we'd get the car he drove in to the Bridge of Don, back home again. Given that it was now 9:30pm and I had four sleeping kids in the house.

Friday, after Bikeability and work responsibilities had been ticked off, we headed to see the local nurse, and then the doctor, who both confirmed it would be a trip in to the Big Smoke and to A&E as soon as possible that was needed, which needless to say caused no end of stress to this already busy weekend.  The business being due to start within the hour with me driving in to Aberdeen to take Toots and the OC to their swim meet and Judge the session, while the Don stayed at home to get Joey to his swim lesson, feed them tea, make sure Lightning got off to his camp, and take Tiger to her final pre-exam ballet practice.  Funnily enough a trip to A&E was not on the schedule!

I mean in all honesty, this was the busiest weekend so far this year, and included a Scout camp, two swim meets, one lasting three days, a ballet exam, a football match, and then regular football and trampoline training. Not that we'd tried to squeeze too much in - never - just more like a perfect storm of activities all converged on this weekend.  Oh, and of course Mother's Day, maybe? Not sure that one was really given a look in...

We had, though, come up with a perfect plan which involved both the Don and I pretty much being in different places at different times in different cars to ensure folks got where they needed, judging responsibilities were performed, ballet buns were in place, and Mother's were (just about) appreciated.  Until, of course, the plan was blown tuppot.

But we survived, with cancelled responsibilities and mother-in-laws frantically driving out here last minute to be our child care and friends picking up where they could, and four children who were very understanding and helpful amidst their activities.

Now though, a new reality begins...
