Luxembourg is the capital city of the small European nation of the same name. Built amid the deep gorges cut by the Alzette and Petrusse rivers, it is famed for its ruins of medieval fortifications.
We stopped here on our way home from Germany in 2010, and stayed in the wonderfully located Youth Hostel. We figured now the bairns were older, and it was close to where we are heading to in the Mosel Valley next week, we might as well stop again. And in fairness, neither the Don nor I remember very much from 2010!
The old town centre is totally walkable, so walk we did. There is a vast Bock Casemates tunnel network which encompasses a dungeon, prison and the Archaeological Crypt, but sadly they were still closed to tourists. So instead we just ambled, and meandered, and walked, and walked, and walked around the city, up and down and up and down. By which point the Don's leg was the size of a tree and we all needed a siesta.

| The floor clearly is supposed to be clear, but for all the tourists that have walked on it I suppose. Kinda ruins the intended effect! |
