Rite of Spring

And that's another term finished, woop woop!  

Two weeks of Easter holidays before us... and oooh, perhaps, at most, four days where we will actually all be together as a family, there are no plans and we could possibly actually 'holiday'.  But nothing is booked, we'll play it by ear, and for the first week at least, get on with some Easter fun (we're assuming here that fun will include the studying that the two girls have to get on with when Monday rolls around).

First up, our annual church Easter Egg Hunt at the park:

It was a great laugh with over 200 'hunters', many more chocolate eggs, and 12 characters to find between the river, Kellands Park and the school.  I was in charge of map-making, registration and home-baking, and was quite happy being able to stay warm(ish) with cups of tea and fine pieces throughout the morning!

 

Next we had the Boyds round for a family dinner and catch up.  We didn't do much other than eat and catch up, but we did manage to give the fire pit another run for its money:

Come Monday though the boys were at The Gaitherin', which the different kids have been going to in different combinations pretty much every year since 2017 (COVID and forgetting-to-pay not withstanding).  This year both boys chose the guitar, accordion and drums, and we came home from the final show with an accordion for 6 months since now three of the kids can blast out an ole tune.

I'm not sure if you can even make out Lightning and Joey in the video above, and though it's not the greatest example of their work, they have loved learning new tunes and techniques, and most days you'll hear Lightning plucking some rock tune or another on the strings.  In fact, he's enjoyed it so much he's now requested an electric guitar for his upcoming birthday.  Ha! He should be so lucky!

Oma was also up for the week so the kids did also manage to get some Easter activities in:

Okay, so it turns out the final dyed eggs is the only thing we actually pictured, but we did decorate the house including making an Easter tree, and they did make Easter baskets too, and... eh.... did we make any Easter nests?  I'm not sure we did as we had done so much baking for, and still had so much left over from, last weekend's Easter Egg Hunt.

So that was our first week over!
