(Not so) Hidden Away

I think we've been back to the hidden waterfall at Bennachie twice since I first posted about it back in 2021, but both times were, to my recollection, shortly after the initial discovery. I've also walked the Old Turnpike Trail that runs between the Visitors Centre and Rowantree carpark and skirts the bottom of the waterfall a couple of times too, but again, all within the first few years.

So it was quite a shock to take a stroll to it today with iChum and discover it is not so hidden at all anymore!

Actually, the waterfall itself is still hidden, mostly because of the felling and the fact that the old fog house has been barriered off, but what a change to the area.

And I know it's not deliberate in the sense of trying to open it up - it's the result of the massive storms we had a few years ago which absolutely devastated so many forests and beautiful walks in this area and have taken years of felling to clear up...but still, it's such a shame.

Turns out, though, that it's not so hidden anymore either!
