The kids have been at school here for, how many week? not yet ten? and the conversation tonight over the dinner table was whether putting your middle finger up in the air and showing it to someone was swearing or not. It is, in case there is any doubt.
"Oh, I thought that sticking two fingers up in the air was swearing," said Lightning.
Eh yeah, that too.
This is the first conversation about swear words - not just words that are unkind to say, like the 'S' word (which is stupid), or using the word 'ugly' - in over six years of formal education.
