| It's a Pokemon Pikachu tin |
The boy has been saving for weeks and weeks and weeks. He worked out exactly how much he needed to save after a trip to the local Tesco and spying this baby on the shelf at the start of his obsession, and has been diligently colouring in his chart marking every pound he's saved. Finally last weekend he had enough. Knowing he was visiting the Health Visitor on Tuesday to get some shots that he'd missed out on while we were living in the UAE, I promised we could buy what he so desperately longed for straight afterwards - on the condition that he didn't scream the place down (which all of my 5-year olds seem to do. What's with that? They're fine up till age five then suddenly shots are THEMOSTPAINFULTHINGYOUCOULDPOSSIBLYDOTOTHEM).
Except of course in January the toy shelves in most shops are pretty bare. Two shops later we were out of luck and out of time, so to the internet we turned - which is a shame actually because the kids actually love physically handing over their money. Anyway, turns out it was more expensive (I donated the extra quid).... but... it was a Pikachu tin - oh yes it was - and therefore by his reasoning, The Best.
For whatever reason ordering on Tuesday afternoon did not allow enough time for Prime Next Day Delivery to have it here by Wednesday, so this afternoon when it finally came I carried it up to school to give to him as soon as possible. Queue woops of joy in the playground, mad dashes to various friends to show off the tin, and even a cute little high five handshake that he and his P1 Poke Pals had made up.
So worth the wait.
Oh, and the rest of us came home from school to Internet in the house (queue woops of joy from Joey in the living room, mad dashes to siblings to proclaim the good news, and desperate pleas to finally, finally, FINALLY watch Netflix). It's only been six weeks, four different landline phone numbers (no joke) and endless follow-up phone calls, so I'm not sure what all the excitement is about.
*snort*
