Ticket to Ride

Football season is most definitely upon us: mid-week training here, Saturday training there, Sunday matches everywhere...

Today Joey was playing in Milltimber, so while the girls were home working on maths homework / revision, and Lightning was at a 'home' football match he could attend with friends, the Don and I managed a sneaky cycle along the Deeside Railway line all the way in to the Duthie Park*.  Sadly the hour-long match was not enough time to cycle the 6 miles in, actually sit down and enjoy a cuppa and fine piece, and then cycle the 6 miles uphill (it was around about a hundred feet climb - which isn't actually much but you could feel it!) back again, but next time I'll plan it better...

* I have been wanting to cycle the old railway line for years, and had never yet managed to - not even walk it on foot.  But for the Don it was a cycle down memory lane... My ultimate plan is to start in Banchory and head in to the park for lunch / an ice cream before heading back again, but it would be so cool to be able to do the whole 43-mile route. Maybe to practice for next year's cycling holiday?!?
