What a gorgeous day we had on upper Deeside today as part of Run Balmoral.
Lighting and Joey took part in the Primary School's 1.5k race and came in in 7:20 (86th) and 7:02 (69th) respectively, which was not bad out of 551 kids! Toots also took part in the Secondary 2.5k race and smashed it in 11:01 (70th) which was a great PB. Tiger and I, we were there for moral support.
And though the day started somewhat cool, cloudy and nippy (I was in two long sleeved layers and my wooly hat), it definitely heated up (though I still found the air a bit chilly), and we were all a bit pink by the time we got home! The joy of Scotland...
The Don obviously couldn't take part in the 10k race he was signed up to - voted the most scenic 10k race in the UK - so half of us stayed to cheer on Vallel and make full use of the day-long activity wrist bands the boys bought themselves, while the other half went home and heated up the BBQ.
What wonderful weather and what a wonderful day - it's definitely an event we will sign up to again next year (barring any more injuries!). Now here's hoping both tomorrow (when poor Misterhorhay is coming back to take part in the mountain-biking duathlon) and Run Garioch, in a few weeks time, is as lovely!
