We finally got home yesterday evening via Knockhill race track, Sterling at Tillicoultry, Perth Leisure Pool, Pizza Express and Scotland's Festival of Light.

It's been three years since Spectra was in Aberdeen, and it's one of the first big events to take place in the newly renovated Union Terrace Gardens.  It's also actually the first time we've ever been along to see the festival, given that most mid-term breaks we are away.

Scotland's Festival of Light brings together artists, thinkers, musicians and businesses, using interactive sculptures, architectural projections and transformative installations, all based around theme this year of 'Home'.

Pulse - exploring the interdependence of
light, space and time, and spatial perception

Noken - a malevolent freshwater spirit from
Norwegian, Swedish and Finnish folklore

Fantastic Planet - gargantuan humanoids exploring a world where
human beings are a feral race, where we threaten our own
existence by using up the world's resources

Luminosi Trees - 6m high trees that respond visually to
beautiful soothing soundscapes of Indonesian gamelan songs,
based on Fibonacci sequence of numbers they never repeat

The Waxwing Wanes - musing on climate
change, the ebb and flow of sea ice, and the
dramatic shifts in temperature we are witnessing,
responding to a new composition by Scottish
composer Allie Robertson

Nature Nocturnal -  illuminated plants and wildlife of
the nocturnal natural world

Illumaphonium - two hundred illuminated
chime bars wich respond to touch, with
ever changing patterns of light and sound

And... the new gardens being enjoyed
as they should!

The streets were really, really busy, and it was so nice to be out and about with so many people around - it did actually have a foreign holiday feel to it (if you could forget you were wearing a hat and gloves)!
