As part of the Queen's Green Canopy Platinum Jubilee celebrations (where over 1 million trees are being planted), Tiger and I looked out our shovels this morning, pulled on our gloves, and headed on down to Market Green.
There were 9 or 10 sites across Inverurie where we could have helped out, but given that Market Green is literally on our doorstep, and we walk up and down that lane every single day, we figured it would be quite cool to plant some trees there and watch them grow over the years - and decades.

First up we filled in a couple of gaps along North Street (above), though really they could have done with at least three more to keep the spaces between the trees even. Then we went to help plant five different species along the lane where, when we first moved home, a line of massive poplars and firs once stood.
Thing that got me, which you really can't see from the photos above or below, are how higgelty piggelty the line of new trees are (not ours - the four we planted were in a lovely straight line!). I mean, should a little bit of care not be put into where they are planted? Especially given they are actually running right along a straight path?!? AND that we'd hope they'll be here for many decades to come??
Anyway, I do hope they survive and aren't knocked over by stray footballs or peed on too much by dogs or vandalised by bored teenagers... Think it'll be so cool to say to future kids and grandkids that we helped plant these!
