Hard Work

Crazeee to host the Academy Awards Ceremony the same night that Scotland is playing. Even crazier coming from a football obsessed school Head.  Nevertheless, that's what happened.

The Don and Lightning chose to stay at home (I'm assuming Lightning will get his Award for Excellence - presented to S1-S3 pupils who have demonstrated consistent positive behaviour, effort and attitude through the academic session 2023-24 - at some other point), but Toots and I sat through the looong ceremony. And then the long drive home - who's decision was it to make Inverurie by-pass one-lane with traffic lights the same night a thousand people were trying to get the two miles home from Thainstone Mart?!?

Anyway, Toots won three Successful Learner Academic Awards this year (which recognise pupil attainment in particular fields of study and were awarded to the highest attaining pupils from S4, S5 and S6) in History, German and Biology. And, even more exciting, she also won one of the four 'golden envelope' awards - The University of Aberdeen Principal's Award of Excellence - which was awarded to one S5 and one S6 pupil who had achieved excellent results in all academic subjects undertaken.  She, however, was more excited to get home and discover the cash prize that came with the award!!  Which was good.
