Ain't No Hat for That

Instead our weekend saw us travel to Stirling for the night, then onwards to Bishopbriggs for the Big Bobble Hat triathlon and the first of the Triathlon Scotland Inter Regional Championships qualifiers.

We took AunTia with us for her first ever Sprint Triathlon (can you believe this event last year was her first ever (Novice) triathlon?? How things have changed!), though we didn't get a single picture of her!

We did get a picture of her hat,
which was one of only two Big Bobble Hats
that we saw the whole day! We understood
they didn't hand them out anymore as prizes,
but Joey was counting on one at least being
available to buy!

The weather definitely started off not good, and it drizzled (though was warm) for much of Joey's race (which makes cycling rather scary for those watching, if not the competitors - it makes it rather muddy for the competitors!)...

...but it didn't stop him coming in a happy third.  Only the first place position automatically qualifies for the IRCs so Joey will need to race all-out at Lochore for another top-three finish to be considered for the four-man Scotland Tristar 2 (age 11/12) team.

Then is was time for AunTia's race, but terribly we didn't stay to watch (which she did say she was okay with!!) as we had a looong drive home (made slightly longer by the A9 being closed after Dunblane and a diversion for us to the M876 and Clackmannanshire Bridge, neither of which I think I've ever driven in my life) - we did follow her live results in the car though which was exciting!
