Today we were down at the Michael Woods Sports & Leisure Centre in Glenrother, Fife, for the 2025 Scottish National Schools Aquathlon Championships. Both boys were competing in the S1/2 age group, which consisted of a 250m swim followed by a 2k run, representing Inverurie Academy.

I don't think their PE teacher submitted their swim times (which determines where in the lane they swim and in what wave they set of), so poor Joey was right at the back of his lane and had to overtake a whole bunch of people (which takes time as you can only overtake at the end of each lane). Anyway, Lightning was first out the water in his heat and Joey was second, kept their leads throughout transition and the 2-lap run...
...and loved running home in first and second position!

| Not a bad place on the leaderboard! Even if only till the next heat of S2 boys ran and pipped them of their posts! Think they finishes 16th and 25th, or something like that. |

Next up was their team relay - a 200m swim and 1k lap - which didn't actually count as you need two boys and two girls in either S1-3 or S1-6 and they had 3 boys and 1 girl from their school. But every team regardless of how they were made up was allowed to take part and the boys had a great time. Though as a watcher it's all very confusing and you don't really have any idea where your kid is in relation to others in their leg!
