For the last 36 hours the temperature hasn't risen above freezing, and it's set to continue for a while longer.

All of last week we knew the weather was going to turn, but on Thursday, when outside in the backyard in shorts and t-shirts eating ice cream (we even came inside because we were too hot), it was pretty easy to be blase about it all. Sure! we will still go camping...  Okay so we'll look in to borrowing an RV or a pop-up camper, but we'll still go...  We've got our new roofbars so can fill the roofbox with duck down duvets and plenty of blankets... we could even sit in our snowsuits... we'll be fine... we'll be fine.

Then Friday dawned.  Cold.  Frozen.  Grey.  C-o-l-d.  Freezing rain is how it was described here.  Bone chilling is how we felt it as we walked to and around the 'open' campus at Trinity.  And that was after leaving a warm car, entering warm classrooms, and with a warm house to return to.

So perhaps we won't co camping this Thanksgiving.  Big Bend, after all, will still be there after the Fall.
