What I Go To School For

Or not, as the case may be.

Toots and iChum's boys took part in the Scottish Schools swimming trials for Aberdeen City and South Aberdeenshire this morning at Aberdeen Sports Village.  ASV has appeared out of nothing since we've been away, but hosts a 50m swimming pool, separate diving pool, games hall, five-a-side pitches, squash courts, a gym... and everything and more that a usual 'sports village' would contain.  And believe it or not this is the first time we've visited.

Anyway, five kids from Kellands (who are all Garioch club members) achieved qualifying times for the heats, so early this morning we battled the rush hour traffic into the centre of Aberdeen.  The top fastest three of each event will be entered into the finals group, and the top sixteen fastest swimmers from across Scotland in that group will get together in East Kilbryde in January to race in the finals.

Toots and the OC swam in the 12 and under 50m Backstroke, while IsaB and the other two Kellands P7 boys swam 50m Fly.

Toots was in lane 1 (it started at Lane 0) and the OC in Lane 5 and though fastest in her heat was only seventh overall for the event:

But a McDonalds for lunch and return to school at only 2pm and still in club kit meant they all felt like winners ;)

Go Kellands!
