Love For A Child

This morning, all First Grade mums were invited to a special classroom Mother's Day Celebration at Trinity.  Toots's class had practised hard learning poems, singing songs, telling us in simile why we were special, and creating unbelievable keepsakes.  Oh, and serving us cake and strawberries.

...as beautiful as a rainbow.

In some ways Mother's Day seems to be just another reason to celebrate over here.  Yet the effort and love that the teachers I know put in to 'their' children, not just to help them learn and grow in school, but by educating them to be better people, to express love to their families, and to show appreciation to those around them, particularly on occasions like this, is incredible.

As well as the various crafts that were produced (including a vayss [vase], which is the pronunciation Toots insisted I use) Toots's teacher created a thirty minute video montage of the class throughout the year.  We each received a copy of the video, including a recording of our kid reading us a story in October and again in April, to show us how much they had improved.  There was also the most beautiful twelve page Mother's Day book made up for each mum, with photos, poems, prayers, drawings, and exclamations of love from our little ones.

The longer I'm here, the more I love Trinity and its staff.  It'll be a sad day that we leave these special teachers who can't seem to love our children more.
